Thanks for the FAST reply... I was about to add some things to make this clearer.
Firstly I am no php programmer but have a little DB experence as I have installed 2 on my site already. Yes it is MySQL
I have a small site.. it is a hillwalking site.. It already has a members area, where members can change their profiles. I also have a dB for a photo section of past walks etc.
I have noticed that mostly people seem to pair off and dont mix too much, when out walking. Id like to change this and have thought of doing it this way.
Id like to be able to put a little include file at the bottom of each profile. The file would include a join button and the name of the person along with the name of the person who introduced him/her. Id like it to have a visible field 'name1' and 'name2'
The text would simply read mike(name1) introduced jane(name2) click here to join. This would be on janes page and would also have the hidden fields profile_id_number and profile_email for both jane and mike.
When the join button is pushed the user is directed to a page saying make sure you meet mike(name1) at the next meet along with jane(name2). Again mike and janes id/email info in hidden format.
The reason for this is so that fred(the new user) will remember and make an effort to talk to more than one person. Fred then clicks a button saying next and is sent to janes hello page saying something along the lines of:
Thankyou for the interest in the club I hope to see you soon. Click so you know the person who will be arranging everything.
The next page would clearly have a little info about me etc with a button saying please ad your name to our dB. The last page would have a form asking name and address (private info that only I can see). it would also have a line saying you have been introduced by Jane. The form would do 2 things. SEnd me an email of the new user with the user_id?=16 for example. I could simply click on it and it would read jane(name1) introduced fred(name2). Then I would know what to include at the bottom of freds profile. Fred would then be asked to fill out the profile form. The id nuber would be at the top and fred would have to input it into a new field in the profile form (I would be able to tie all things up then).
I know to a lot of people this is easy, but I only do this as a hobby and to help the comunity, so I dont know that much about php and dbs. only what I have learnt myself by making LOTS of mistakes.
Cheers Raven
