Creatiing Active Records

I need to create a script that will allow users to select there active records in the database. It will allow users to select from about 5 different fields, when they select the field it will show all the distinct records from that field and display them in a menu where they can select as many of the distinct records for that field that they want. I think that I can store the info that they submit into a Session. Once they have gone through and selected all their criteria, they will then submit and it will set all the pertaining records in the database to Active.
