Any FTP function substitutes?

Is there any way to access files from an FTP server using PHP without the FTP functions? Sockets maybe?

As a last resort I guess I could try compiling PHP myself, but I think that will be a failure. 🙁

Unfortunately, Net_FTP is only an OO wrapper for PHP's FTP functions, which don't exist in my module.

I know that this is off the subject.... But did you create the classifieds on

or did you use an "out of the box" solution? and if so where did you get it?

We created them ourselves, graphics and code. Keep in mind it's still under construction, hence why we are running it for free right now.

Back on the subject, does anyone else have any ideas on this function workaround? I can FTP to the needed server from the shell, just can't do it from the code! 🙁 If nobody has any ideas I'm sure I'll be posting later on how to compile my own CGI version. 🙂
