pull-down selection... ENUM?

Hi everyone... I'm a newbie to PHP and MySQL ... but trying hard... I have a site that has a lot of food products... on my html doc. that I use to input all the product, I have used a pull down menu listing all the product (i.e. <OPTION NAME="breads">BREADS</OPTION, etc. It's all in the database and my PHP and MySQL is working great... however, when I make a selection from that pull-down, I want my selection to show up in the results page... so the customer could choose to see all the BREADS, etc..

I know I'm probably not asking this right... sorry...

Anywayz... for data type would I use the ENUM? and how?

I am not sure what you want, but this is what I get out of it.

Your basic form with the drop-down list. Have the method of that form = post.

Then on your next page that wil display the results you will have something like this:

$var = $_POST['var']; //the name of the dop-down

$sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE product='$var' "); // this will select all the info from the table of the product they chose.

Like I said it was a lil' confusing, so if I missed something let me know.

thanks for replying... I'm confused as well... sorry that I can't explain it better... but I'll try... here is my code for my pull-down (they also have to fill out an ID#, country, company, etc. before they get here)... keep scrolling down...

(sorry) so when the company inputs the product info, they type in a #, country, company, description, etc... then they choose from the pull-down what category the product is.... so that the customer can choose to only see the 'beers' from the site... but when I try to call up only beer, all products show up....
