Which is better/faster? Include or function

When faced with an option to have a single common menu (in this case a popout menu) across the entire site, which is better or faster from a performance perspective?

An include or a function that simply prints the contents of the menu.

From a development perspective, it is a tad bit simpler to do the include as I will not have to escape any characters.

I would rather lean towards the most efficient.

There will no appreciable difference. If you were going to itterate it a 1000 times in a loop, it might make a difference, but doing it only time is nothing. Do whatever is easier.

Either would work fine.

A function is kind of nice if you need to pass parameters to it, but if its strictly a static menu, then the include works great too.
