page including help

Ok, i want people when they goto the mysite.com/main.php it includes index2.html. I can get that to work fine. But i can't get it to work where if you click on a link, let's say contact i make the link
mysite.com/main.php?id=contact.html at it only shows the main.php and won't show the contact.html file in it. here's the code if anyone can help.

Try something like this:

1). Make a folder and name it incl. This is where you will store all your included pages.

2). Give all the pages you want to include, a file extension of .incl

3). Where you want all this to display use the following code:

  include("incl/index2.incl"); 
}  

else
{
  if (file_exists("incl/".$_GET['id'].".incl")) 
{ 
    include("incl/".$_GET['id'].".incl");

k, don't laugh at me but that didn't work. that requires MySQL right? my current host supposrts PHP but not MySQL. And if that's the case, i'll just have to use this code till I find a new host.

and make it so the page after the splash is mysite.com/main.php?id=index2.html

Also I forgot to mention, but I'm sure you already know, that you will have to call it like so:

<a href="main.php?id=contact">Contact</a>

Also be carefull cause this script is case sensative.

It does not require mysql. Did it give you any kind of error?

it just doesn't show anything where I want the content.

it shows what I want to include jsut fine but, if you click on any link to the left under "site information" on the left, it loads the main.php file but doesn't include any of the pages on the left. and i have set all their links to like ?id=main/contact.html

if i have to i can just use,

If you did all the steps I said then it should be more like this:

http://fffever.t35.com/main.php?id=contact

Again, here are the steps:

i put it as main/contact.html because it in a folder called main.

anywas, my ftp client doesn't want to work right now, so i'll try that in a minute.

anyway if i still can't get it to work guess i'll just stick to what i was doing till i can get what you said to work.

Well, if you want to do it that way it's fine as well you would just need to make a few changes to the script:

That should work with the way you have it right now. Let me know what it does.

loads the index2.html file fine, but not the rest ...

oh well, like i said i can stick with what i was doing.
