how to insert datas stored in an excel into mysql database using php.

I had looked around for code to do this. There's a little bit out there if you search for it. But I found Perl has awesome Excel file support and I created a Perl script which converts an Excel file to CSV. Then I have PHP handle the CSV however I need to. You can find all sorts of stuff on the 'net if you search for Perl and Excel...

thanks for ur reply.....but i need to read data from excel using php and then i want to update those datas into mysql database ..i found that perl can do this but i want this to be done using php ,,,,but i dont know the classes that need to be included for doing this ... and could you please tell how to open a excel file and to fetch the data from it....if possible could you please give its code brief....

You got me on that one. I didn't find much for PHP out on google or hotscripts.com. But like I said, Perl has a beautiful XLS library which I find runs pretty quick. I just had PHP interface with Perl and life was good.

Its all about using the right tool for the right job. Instead of using a hammer to take down a tree, I found a chain saw.

If you're still stuck on PHP, you may have to build your own XLS reading library.

If you are using perl could you please tell from where i can freely download the following module "Spreadsheet:😛arseExcel" because it help to read datas from the excel and help to store in databases.....

The host I'm with already had it installed. A quick search on google says this might work:

perl -MCPAN -e 'install Spreadsheet:😛arseExcel'
