Reporting Tools

Hi.

I am a newbies in PHP. I would like to start a project in PHP4 and searching for some Reporting Tools which can be run in either Win32 platform and Linux platform, and then can transform into PDF file.

So far as I know only Agata Report. Any comment from you ?

Well, let said if I would like to develop an intranet for campus network, some of the report I hope can make it as a PDF file format and let user down load it or sending with attachment file.

Before transform into PDF, I need a reporting tools to generate query and report. Like if using VB, normally we will use Cyrstal Report as a third party report tools.

For Example:
VB--> Crystal Report --> Report-->Convert to PDF
Kylix--> Report Manager --> Report-->Convert to PDF
PHP-->???-->Report-->Convert to PDF

??? : is what i want.

Well (and I'm assuming you're looking for free stuff?) I did a search on SourceForge and the first one it came up with was DataVision which seems to do what you want. It even outputs in XML format, which you could then read in with PHP etc etc...

I search DataVision before. I try to install it but seem like my PC must install Java to support the DataVision.

Well, very shame about it.
Actually I did download it before, but I dont know how to open the Application.

Have you try DataVision before?

No, I've only used Crystal Reports before (but not from a developers POV, just a bit of data analysis). Why don't you just install java?

Sorry, can I ask some "stupid" question here ?

Is Java is licensed free ? I click to the link, but see so many item, I have no idea which one suitable for me to download. 🙁
It need a package or it just need the compiler ?

I am unfamiliar to Java, that why I didnt choice Data Vision at the beginning. If this is the best tools I should use, may be it is the time for me start to learn more detail about Java.
