This is way more information than I really want to know, but I need to figure this out.
I'm trying to develop a little custom newsletter tool for a site, but we are limited to only 100 emails per day (no, we aren't sending spam). I'm reading that the way around it (really?) is to send via SMTP rather than through mail. I don't completely understand what's going on here and if I try to do otherwise (other than mail()) if it will allow us to send more. *The webhost does provide additional tools for newsletters but their database stuff is much too inadequate for what we need.
Now, I've looked into phpguru's smtp class and it's look very straightforward to use - will this do the trick? Am I just wasting time? Should we just register with a service for sending out newsletters?
This the link to phpguru's class, but I'm pretty sure people are familar with it...

Any tips?
Thanks...v
