PHP.INI and URL configuration

I read somewhere that in the php.ini file I can specify my php files not be required to have any extension at all, or at least the url be something like

http://localhost/application/bin/

So that you can hide the technology you can use.

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Apache has mod_rewrite, which you can use to do that. You can also specify which file types to use php for in the httpd.conf. You could actually have php parse html pages. As far as hiding the technology in the php.ini, there's a option in there to expose php, which you can turn off.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the mod_rewrite. I Don't think I am ready to tackle that just yet. Wow! It's pretty crazy.
