[URL=...to <a href="...

Hi
Im making my own news system and i have come across a problem when replacing bbcode style tags with html. I already have a function to tackle smilies and bold, underline ect, but i cant figure out how to do URLs.

[ URL=http://www.meh.com]Text here[/URL]

In the example above i need to make the [URL= become <a href=", the URL needs storing somwhere so that i can add it in after replacing it all, the end ] into ">the text storing somewhere too, [/URL] to </a> and then everything putting together.

How would i do this?

You'd be much better off with something like this, however:

$str = preg_replace("/\\[url\\](.*?)\\[\\/url\\]/i","<a href=\"$1\">$1</a>",$str);
