mktime help

I need some help with the mktime function. I've tried all day, searched through this and other forums, but still no luck 🙁

Everytime I use the function mktime() the hour gets all messed up. The rest (minute, month, day, year) all display correctly. But the hour is always off by a few hours. It changes from my computer and my online server as well (timezone problem?).

Also when I enter 0 in the hour argument it returns the hour 8. why is that?

I don't know much about date/time in programming.

Could very well be a time zone difference. You can use [man]putenv[/man] to change the time zone at runtime. What exactly are you trying to do? You may not really need to use mktime...

I'm creating a form where the user enters the day, month, year, hour, minute, and then it converts that information to a timestamp which can later be displayed to the user.
