User/Password protected pages....

Im trying to make a staff part of the site so only the staff can get into it, I want to make it so they each have their own user name and password (that can be deleted if they are fired) but i have no idea how to go about this.

I tried using .htacess and .htpasswd but i couldn't get it to work right, kept saying the password was wrong.

Any idea of what i could use that is good, yet easy for me since i really dont have any idea how to do anything other then straight html and some javascript.

.htaccess is by far the simplest way to go. i suggest you give it another try. perhaps the passwords in the .htpasswd file were encrypted wrong or it was looking in the wrong place. there are several scripts out there that will automatically create .htaccess and .htpasswd files for you as well as add and remove users.

*note the htpasswd program may not be in a global access directory so you may have to do a 'locate htpasswd' to find it.
