recognizing html

Hey, I'm putting up some new Invision boards, and i know html and css enough to customize it, but i have 0 knowledge of php. But I attempted to rewrite the code anyway. Most of it has worked after a few tries, but I've wasted a lot of time on this one...

I installed a mod i found that allows the member titles to be html. it works. I attempted to write my own mod to have them show up in the member list. I got the code to show up, but it displays as code. (http://fleet54.com/forum/index.php?act=Members)

Any ideas on how I could fix this?

Very likely the restriction was placed there for a reason.
This reason is that unrestricted html code can mess up the html page.
Worse still, it may include javascript and other clientside code, which could be a security problem.

To allow html and yet remain secure, one would have to restrict the tags allowed, usually by using some sort of regular expressions.
Unfortunately, if you do not really know PHP (or regular expressions, for that matter), then it's going to be difficult.
