storing greek charactres from php to mysql

My ploblem is that I want to store data from php, say (Name,Lastname,..) into mysql in greek letters.
If I store the data directly from mysql the greek letters are ok, but from a web browser (ie..) with php, after I submit them, the characters are not readable.
Please help if you can.

Are you sending the proper HTTP headers?

header('Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-7');

Yes this was the problem.
From php i can send and read the greek characters, but from
mysql console i read strange characters.
Is there any solution for this or i have to view them only
from php code.
