htaccess send variables?

I want to make an account services page that will show all the customers information and only the last 4 digits off credit card info. But I dont have a SSL certificate or the money to get one, which is why only the last four digits will be queried from the DB.

My question is, can htaccess send variables (username and password) to mysql after the htaccess username and password has been authorized to query the DB to display info?

Username is: $PHP_AUTH_USER
Password is: $PHP_AUTH_PW

Just use those 2 variables however you want.

A word of warning to anyone working with credit-card data. Read your merchant agreement. SSL or not, you're probably not even allowed to STORE the full credit card number, especially not in a database that is in any way connected to the net.
