How do I formate date into mail() function?

Can anybody tell me how to format the mail() function so that it sends the date?

The time will show on emails received from the email function below - but the date will now show.

mail($To, $Subject, $Message, "From: <".$From.">\r\nMIME-Version: 1.0\r\nContent-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1");

The date will be added by the MTA (sendmail, postfix, whatever). Generally the MTA will add any required information that is missing.

The format for the date is strictly specified in section 3.3 of RFC2822, but can see an example in any piece of mail in your mailbox:

Date: Sat, 28 Feb 2004 23:02:09 -0500

All I've got is a shared web hosting. I don't have access to the server settings or anything.

Actually, I'm not even a programmer. I'm just a half-hack businessman who doesn't have enough money to hire a professional programmer so I'm having to design my own web site. What I'm hoping is that I can get two half hacks to equal a whole (i.e. half-hack businessman plus half-hack programer equals whole something).

I just double-checked email that I sent from my web hosting to myself yesterday evening. I use the Netscape email client. In the mail window IT'S NOW SHOWING THE DATE! The date looks like this:

Date: 2/28/2004 10:08 PM

Here's the odd part. There was no date there yesterday evening when I sent the email. Also, I just sent another email to myself from my web hosting. The email that I just sent does not have a date.

It's not supposed to wait a day before it displays the date is it?

Wonder what the problem is?

It's not a problem with the email; it's a "feature" of the program you are using to read email. Many email clients will not display the date if it's current, and will instead display only the time.

If you view the raw email file (ctrl-U with Netscape, or mess around with "properties" under Outlook Express), you'll see that the proper timestamp was there all along.

Say, I just looked at your web site. I noticed that you have a weather feed over on the left hand side.

What I'm doing is starting a small news service. I've got a program called HamWeather. The HamWeather program (which is great - I love it) captures the news feeds from the National Weather Service and updates automatically.

Can you point me in the right direction where I can learn more about outputting weather feed information on web sites?
