Why do people even bother making posts like this... which just reiterate a previous person's post but changing 1 or 2 minor details...?

is post count so important that they have to get that one extra post? or is it just for a per-thread appearance/sense of importance?

I have no idea, but I see it constantly. I could see the point if they were offering another idea on how to do it, but things like that just seem like a waste of space.

exactly... I could see if it was a more efficient, or understandable solution... but just... "Yah what Shryku said... <hack some changes (change all the single to double quotes)> and done!"

annoying when you check back because you see an "update" and get that.... :rolleyes:

Look man, if it's that big of a deal, I wouldn't have done it. I didn't realize these forums were a post count competition... I am in no way trying to boost my count.

The example the guy gave wasn't the exact way the person was using it, at least I thought. I'm learning (thanks to the rest of you for not flamin me...) and part of posting those is to learn in case someone pops in and sees it is wrong, they can correct me without me having to create another "useless" thread.

your new and probably havent seen it done as much and if im correct i think thats the only time. so a 1 off situation unlucky you were the one as the example.

But it does get very annoying when users basically just quote a whole post or say yea do that its correct.

For a learning experience this is the place to be, however if you dont have something sort of constructive e.g. Your post which is the example isnt a constructive post, than try to avoid posting i guess "garbage"

if it was as you said, I would have posted it on the same thread rather than starting a new one in the EL,

if I were flaming, believe me, it would be in the ORIGINAL thread, not some offshoot with a minute chance of you seeing it, I just wanted other input on things similiar that were a waste of space/bandwith and annoying.... I saw your count and how long you had been here, ergo I did not draw you out by saying something like "look at this fool" I merely pointed out an example

sorry if you are so sensitive, ill refrain from using your posts as examples if it ever comes up in the future

its the EL, absolutely nothing, had it been meant to instruct anyone on anything, I would have posted it on a thread it related to, exactly as I stated some posts ago.

I already said, by your post count/history here that it wasnt something you had a history of doing therefor I didnt feel I should post it on the thread where you quoted my previous post.

What was I doing? Merely asking if any of the other more weathered people from this board had experienced posts like that themselves recently.

If you feel this was an attack on you specifically, then you read too far into things, you merely did something I found odd, and decided to ask further questions about, as I said, it served as an example, nothing more, if it was something personal against you, I would simply have PM'd you, not brought it to some other public forum.
