ADODB and JDBC

I am trying to use the C-JDBC driver with ADODB: is there any way to use JDBC connections other than using ODBC-JDBC bridges? I am not an expert in JDBC, so is there already a way to use ADODB with JDBC connections or do I have to develop an interface to it in ADODB?

I myself I'm looking for a way to connect PHP to C-JDBC (without bridges), in order to enjoy the benefits of transparent database clustering without having to drop PHP for another server side scripting language (JSP would seem the appropriate choice for this...) or starting to use Java servlets...

So far, I didn't find any answers...
