change text without refreshing

I have 5 images and 5 captions stored in a database.

I have a page that has 5 thumbnails and one "large" box for viewing the images.

When you click on a thumbnail, that picture displays in the large box.

What I need to know how to do is how to get the text stored in the database to also change when a thumbnail is clicked WITHOUT refreshing the page.

It is easy to change the image because I can refer to the imagebox.... but what do I put text in so I can refer to its container and change its content?

What you're looking to do is on a client-side basis - You will need javaScript for that.

Basically, when the page first loads, you should pull all five images with captions from the database and populate a javaScript array with that information.

Then write a javascript to switch between images on the client side without refreshing

Ok, I have done that. But what do I do with the text? How do I write it to a table cell (from the database) and then reference that cell when I want it to change it?

Ya dude, I have done tons of research. I was actually at that same site. But I can't find anything that is specific to changing TEXT. I know how to change images.... but I want to be able to change actual words.

Any other ideas?
