[Resolved] Mod_rewrite problem

I have mod_rewrite configured in apache, and I have been searching the net for hours,

I cannot figure out how to do this right.

I have a url like:

www.domain.com/Category/

that needs to point to:

www.domain.com/php/SCPM_2_0/SC/subcat=$Category

but I cannot get the RewriteRule correct no matter what I try.

Any suggestions?

Come on guys... I spent three hours last reading article after article but I am not understanding how to break down the incoming URL. I can understand how to write what the url should be after re-rewriting, but I no article seems to explain all of the syntax of the incoming URL...

RewriteRule ^{category(.*).html$} php/SCPM_2_0/SC/subcat=$1

This will redirect

www.domain.com/category123.html

to

www.domain.com/php/SCPM_2_0/SC/subcat=123

That works! Now how would I configure the following:

http://www.domain.com/Cart/Category/SubCat/Page1.html

to go to:

www.domain.com/php/SCPM_2_0/SC/subcat.php?CatSelect=$Category&subcat=$SubCat&Page=$Page1

RewriteRule ^{Cart/(.)/(.)/Page(.*).html$} php/SCPM_2_0/SC/subcat.php?CatSelect=$1&subcat=$2&Page=$3

a follow up question if I may, rather than start a new thread:

If I wanted to go from

http://www.domain.com/folder/archives/file_name/

to

http://www.domain.com/folder/redirect.php?file=filename

I'd do..

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^{archive/(.*)/$} /redirect.php?name=$1

or no?

if you put that .htaccess within "folder" it should be ok
