Easy way to resize images?

Hey guys.,

What is the easiest way to resize images? Like all the ones I see are

Getting the .jpg(Finding the ending)
renaming
checking size
etc.

All I want is after I have uploaded my files, resize them to a certain height and width, no matter what. No matter what size, extension, etc.

Is there an easy way?

As far as I can tell, that's the only way. When I look through my book, I find that they have

imagecreate(width, height)

imagecreatefromgif(filename)

imagecreatefromjpeg(filename)

imagecreatefrompng(filename)

I'm not sure exactly what those do, but I hope there helpful.

Hey,

Thanks for those commands. I know there is probably only one way to do it, but I am just looking for the easiest way to just simply resize an image, nothing else, because all the scripts I found contained about 200 other commands that were doing other things. I just need the command to resize(I am going to look up all the ones you gave me now)

I read the thing you suggested, and as usual I don't get it.

Php manual didn't supply any examples, or anything? I love how they write the php manual, so everyone understands.

int imagecopyresized ( resource dst_im, resource src_im, int dstX, int dstY, int srcX, int srcY, int dstW, int dstH, int srcW, int srcH)

Can anyone explain to me how I would simply resize $image1(Which will be the name of the image I want resized) to the dimensions ht-200 and wdth-165?

Dst_im is the destination image, src_im is the source image identifier. If the source and destination coordinates and width and heights differ, appropriate stretching or shrinking of the image fragment will be performed. The coordinates refer to the upper left corner

So the four {dst|src}{X|Y} parameters are all zero , the src{W|H} are the dimensions of the original image, and dst{W|H} are the dimensions of the resized image.

Not sure what OS you are running, but there is a great open source prgram called ImageMagik out there that would do the trick.

example

if(file_exists(some.jpg)){
passthru("convert -crop 450x225+50+165 -rotate 90 some.jpg smaller.jpg");
}

And that's easier to understand than imagecopyresize'd syntax? 🙂 The problem was not how to do it, but how to use the GD functions to do it.

Pretty much, yeah. I guess ImageMagick does it - but PNG is the better format anyhow ... sooner GIF can be dumped the better, in my opinion.

Believe it or not, I have been searching for this little bit of code for two days now. I've just installed ImageMagick and want to finish my Image Gallery script, but I have to learn ImageMagick! And now...I at least have a place to start. Thank you!
