Logic Problem

I don't understand why the following example doesn't echo true when $count reaches a day in $date_array[date]. It echos false every time.

$date_array=array(
  day=>array('January 19 2004'),         

   label=>array('MLK Holiday'));

for($count=strtotime("January 16 2004"), $i=0; $count < strtotime("January 20 2004"); $count = $count + 8600, $i++) {
  if($count == $date_array[day][$i]) {
    echo 'true';
  }
  else {
    echo 'false';
  }
}

I've never seen this construction before:

for($count=strtotime("January 16 2004"), $i=0; $count < strtotime("January 20 2004"); $count = $count + 8600, $i++)

Try making your for statement a little more coherent. I don't think you can increment two variables at the same time.

I think you are trying to do a loop within a loop

for (count=strtotime....
for ($i=0...

actually you can. just using commas, like he posted. not in the manual, but it works.

and you really want:

if($count == strtotime($date_array[day][$i]))//...

You might also want to do something about all those Notices that get thrown when you turn error reporting up to E_ALL 🙂

Oops you are correct; typo on my part. I'm still unable to get that to work however.

In my experience it's always dangerous to use undocumented features...

that said, why not look for yourself?

echo $count.' '.strtotime($date_array['day'][$i]."\n<BR>";
