Fatal Errors

I have developed a website which on the live version (and not on my local), I get the following error from time to time:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 46080 bytes) in /home/ourisp.com/oururl.com/htdocs/Inc/useful_functions.php on line 1562

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 64 bytes) in Unknown on line 0

Line 1562 reads:
echo "</TABLE>";

It has happened multiple times and the line quoted in the error is not always the same.

Once i receive this error, I am unable to load any pages from my site unless I quit my browser (IE 5.2) and relaunch.

I don't know what is happening and why it is happening so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

how do I know how much memory i am using? how can I reduce it?

According to that, you only have about 8Mb memory allowance to php. You may want to bump that up.
Either way, if you're consuming all of the memory on the box, it's probably a problem in the script. Are your local enviroment and the live enviroment the same(same php version, apache version, OS)? Changes between those systems, and a specific piece that should have been changed but wasn't can make php work overtime trying to execute something. I'd suggest looking over your script thoroughly for the errors. [man]flush[/man] at certain points to debug if this is happening at one point in the code, or if it's sporadic.
