Unknown PHP problem on my server

I am having a serious problem with my phpbb board and other php applications. I figured I should start here for a possible solution.

Here's the rundown..

Nothing works on my board. Basically, when you login and hit submit, it just takes you back to the login page. This also happens on a PHP blog I have as well. Seems like any PHP application is just dead?

I have tried looking at several solutions but none have fixed the issue.
1. Cache
2. Zend Optimizer
3. Apache
4. MySQL
5. cookies
6. Permissions
None of these issues have explained this problem. I had the same problem on another server running Windows 2000 server, PHP, and MySQL. Same exact issue.

I have full access to my site as it is my own server here at home.

A little background on the current server:
Mandrake Linux 9.2
Apache
PHP 4.3.3
MySQL 4.0.15
Current phpBB release

I have also addressed the issue with the folks at phpbb and they directed me here. Any advice would be wonderful.

Hrm. I don't recall see your post in the Support forum, but then again I probably missed it. Do you have a url or anything where I can test some things?

What's the session dir and what are its permissions?

Is your database running? Did you configure phpBB to use it properly?

Have you tried from more than one client, and using different browsers?

dotwebbie is right; you should really post this in General Help or newbies ... much better chance of getting noticed there...

OH, it's probably as simple as a register_globals problem! 😃
