I have got an LMHOSTS file which redirects all banner requests back to my localhost just giving a 404 error from apache.

ahahaha...

the css works in Safari also...i don't see them most of the time...

just yesterday i heard some guy discussing the benefits of "bad" design and i just wanted to kill...really...

being that as it may...i don't click on bad adverts especially...but somehow, i believe they are more effective...i think i'm really in the minority...the worse they are, the better...they more they get noticed (even by myself)...

i saw an AMAZING iranian film this weekend called "Silence" where a young blind boy plugs his ears so as not to be persuaded by the sweet sounds of women and music...

oh, i should just shoot myself now...ugh...

A business partner has the Google toolbar on to see how our PR fluctuates and gets popups blocked on that, I'm a Mac user and without searching don't know off the top of my head about any decent Mac based popup blockers.

I totally understand why phpbuilder have ads, we come read, read, click, read, reply, drain bandwidth, read, click read again and drain more bandwidth. Who pays for it, I don't remember coughing up.

This site has taught me so much, or should I say those who contribute have and I value the fact I can come here when stuck, search and in most cases get the answers I've been looking for without posting. Banners are an essential part of this site and keep it alive for us all.

I remember a poll about micropayments. I would actually dip my hand in my Northern pocket (known to be tight) and bung a fiver in the bandwidth pot to continue using this site without popups. I'd just not like to see it turn into an experts-exchange kinda thing which from what I can gather is pay up or clear off, I clear off.

Tekky, I thought I could be wrong hence this post. Customers teach me more than I could ever learn on my own and the input of the people has to be taken into account. I'm now 110% certain that no external banners or ads will ever appear on a site I maintain.

Just because I've said here elsewhere that banners don't work for me it doesn't mean that there are people who can make a viable living from them.

As for phpbuilder who have the ads for a reason and get to see the impressions per click per buyer ratio and know if it's worthwhile or not, I'd rather not see them and so far posters agree, how about offering phpbuilder tee-shirts in partnership from somewhere like tshirthell.com - I'd buy one, I'd never click a banner tho....

Apologies if this is a ramble, a client suggested a beer or two in Liverpool tonight and it would have been rude to refuse! 😉 He's in a worse state after Sambuka down Matthew St,,,,,,,

So, how soon before we see a pay pal donate or buy a phpbuilder shirt for sale on here and who would donate or buy one. I would.

I can see a funky little bar in Covent Garden, the gentle glow of flickering screens lighting up the faces of all the smiling patrons. I can see the LART mounted behind the bar, an ever present warning to any who may stray from the right path. Outside I see a blue neon sign, it reads "The Echo Lounge".

I run Firefox + Adblock extension on my iBook too 😃. As far as something for Safari... that I'm unaware of.
