.htaccess redirect pass explode variables

I have offsite links to my site like:
http://www.site.com/pictures.php/Person

I want to use .htaccess to redirect that link with the variables to:
http://www.site.com/pictures/Person

How do I redirect pictures.php to pictures and also pass the variables?

Sorry, I figured out that this is more of an .htacces/mod_rewrite question...but here's my solution anyways:

I got it to work easily enough by making the .htaccess file using:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule pictures.php/(.*) pictures/$1

<Files pictures>
ForceType application/x-httpd-php
</Files>
