md5 pass check

So its simple, i have my md5 sum of the HTTP Auth, and then I have my md5 summed password. And if they match it should be A'OK, but thats not the case
PHP Auth md5'ed through PHP :
d228195b9990e8716d7559ae6c9fea1c

Mysql Database md5'ed through MySQL :
d228195b9990e8716d7559ae6c9fea

THere's a difference of 2 Characters, and i made sure it wasnt capitalized , etc. ArghHGHHhghh where are those extra characters coming from?!

If your comparing by pulling the stored value out of a database then maybe the type lenght is not long enough by 2 places. Make sure you made enough space in the database to store the whole length of the md5 password. If that helps?

I'd have to agree with bike5; MD5 hashes are thirty-two hex digits long; the problem isn't one of extra characters, the problem is that characters are missing. The database field should be a char(32) type to hold all of them.
