Upgrading PHP on a Debian system

I have heard there are problems upgrading PHP on servers running Debian.

Can anyone shed any light on this topic?

Anyone had problems with installing/upgrading/maintaining PHP on Debian servers?
Do you use apt?
What issues arise?
How often is the debian PHP package upgraded?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I had a bit of a problem with MySQL. can't remember how I resolved it, but I think the newest update helped

Well, I have the latest stable version on my server. I think it gets updated pretty quickly

How many sites does your server run?

Which Debian version is your server running (woody, stable, unstable)?

Is your server running on x86 hardware?
