distance between long and lat

Howdy,

I have the long and lat of two places (origin and destination).

I want to find the distance between these two points in miles.

I've found references to the formula to work this out, but to be honest I am no genius at math.

Therefore, does anyone have or could anyone point me in the right direction of a code snippet that would work out the above?
