Hello everyone, I am 16 and am new to this fourm; I recently learned html, xhtml and javascript over the summer. My webpage is www.ofna-rc.com, and it is getting quite popular. I have serveral members in my fourm, and a pictures section on my site in which I post member's pictures. I am looking for a way to do this more efficiently. I have been using the same src code for all of the picture pages, but just changing the <img src""> for different pictues. The downfall to this is that if I want to change just one part of the pictures pages, i have to do all of them individaully; it can be quite time consuming. I was told that php can help me out here. I could have one file, and just embed pictures or whatever by using very small files called .tpl, which i was told are essentially .html files. This would also come in handy for my main index.html page, so that I could have a seperate file for the header, footer, right colum, left colum, center colum and footer.

Due to a virus on my webserver, my site will be down for a little while until it is transfered to more reliable servers; I will let y'all know when it is back up.

not sure about tpl files (never heard of them), but php can include any file extension as text type

Thanks, I already read that though. I have made those simple files, but cannot test them becasue my server is down. Is there a program that I can test them on?

I think he is referring to .tpl as in PHPBB type Templating Extension

Im just telling what someone told me, I have no idea what the .tpl template extention is.

if you want to test those files, best thing to do is install apache, php & mysql on your pc - saves you uploading every time you make a change!

if you've gone through the tutorial, then i'd suggest you set yourself a project such as a guestbook to work towards. Ask us guys for pointers when you get stuck, and read up on those pointers in the manual.

tip: if you dont know where to start, write down a pseudo-code version of what you want to do - ie

read in guestbook entries from database
sort alphabetically
if entry is not private...
print entry
next entry

then post this, and ask us for pointers.

Okay, I will try that. This next question I have does'nt really pertain to php, I dont think, but im gonna ask anyways, LOL! I have a picture section on my website, and I use the same page for each page of pictures; currently I have 35 pages of pictures. Is there away that I can have people submit pictures, rather than going to my email, and me having to manually insert them into the page? For example, they could just click on a submit pictures link, and it would ask for their picture location; it would download their picture's from their computer, and automatically generate a page that would contain the pictures. If you would like the source codes to my picture page, or if you would like to see the page, please let me know. Thx!

Ya, I checked it out, that is kinda confusing. Here is the layout of the page(s) i want files to automatically be uploaded to. Disregard those non working links on there, but that is what the page layout will look like, but without the links.
