variable replacing

I've looking around and tried several variations of str commands trying to get this to work. Let's say I have $prod = "6.0V 4.5AH Sealed Lead Acid Battery"

If any time in prod there is a .0 in front of V i want the .0 removed.

Sometimes I might have 6.5V, in that case, I want the .5 to stay.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

$prodDesc=str_replace(".0","",$prodDesc);
}

The prodDesc is exactly 6.0V 4.5AH Sealed Lead Acid Battery

also make sure ==0 is a zero

Try
=== '0'

rather than == 0.

This will test if it's identical rather than just equal to.

You could try -

$strProdDesc = strpos($prodDesc ,".0V");

if (!empty($strProdDesc)) {
$prodDesc =str_replace (".0" ,"" ,$prodDesc );
}
