Adding a second hard disk

Right, I'm running out of room so I bought a second HDD and installed it in my computer, when I boot up in windows (2K) it apears in device manager and says that it's working fine however it does not apear in windows explorer.
Other things that may (or may not) be helpfull

• It is not formatted

• I have a linux partition which windows sees as unformatted.

• I have a small, plastic tamberine on my desk.

Any help would be great

size and interface type would be useful... most MOBO's need "translator" type software IE ezbios or some other sort of application that actually allows it to "comprehend" extremely large (I believe 20+ gigs was the cutoff... maybe a bit lower) HD's.... (I know this is the case with my WD120Gig (IDE/ATA)

Format it. Windows explorer probably doesn't like the fact that it's unformatted.

added a windows partition table to it in linux with fdisk and then made a windows filesystem on it with mkdosfs using default values for all but to no avail.

?? How do I go about finding out what I need for my mother board (I suppose first question should be how do I find out what mobo mine is?)

Thanks for your help so far guys. I know it's working OK because I managed to mount it fine and copy files to it in linux.

to find out the MOBO you can usually write down the info displayed on the initial boot screens BEFORe the PC searches for/lists the HD's (when its counting RAM generally) and can search it out on the web....

your HD should have came with software or info in its book if it did require the software....

Didn't come with a book. Anyway, I'm being dumb, the MOBO's not got a problem with it because I can use it fine on my linux boot.
Any other ideas?
