Can't clear re-fill text/data in input boxes with Mozilla

This is a question about the Netscape browser. I would ask this question in a Netscape forum but I don't know of one.

The question I've got pertains to my user registration script (UserRegister.php) and my login script (Login.php).

The Netscape browser pre-fills the username for the login script with my own username.

With the user registration script I've got two password input boxes where the user must enter his password twice. The Netscape browser pre-fills the requested username text input box with my username and it fills the first password input box.

The Internet Explorer browser does not pre-fill any of the values. It kind of scares me a little bit because I don't want visitors to my site to know my username. Actually, I don't think they will since I believe it's a glitch with Netscape.

I've clicked on Tools->Form Manager->Edit for Manager->Remove All Info with the Netscape browser. The browser is not supposed to have any information stored - but apparently it does.

Does anybody know how I can clear all of the stored information out of the Netscape browser?

I dont use Netscape but it sounds like a saved password thing. To do that in FireFox its basically Tools > Options > Privacy than turn off Saved Passwords Netscape should be similar since Mozilla (FireFox, Mozilla) are based off netscape

It WAS a saved password. I removed the password and it's working okay now.

I'm going to have to read up on the FireFox browser. Earlier I was searching the Netscape web site and stumbled across the download area for the FireFox browser.

This is a good opportunity for me to read up on FireFox. Sounds like FireFox might be worth looking into.

I'm confused. You mention in the subject that you are using Mozilla, but in your post you refer to netscape.

Although Mozilla was once developed by netscape, they have since broken apart.

Good question. I've been wanting to learn more about what Mozilla means but have been so busy trying to get my small web site up and running that I haven't had the time to learn.

Until about six or eight months ago I used Internet Explorer almost exclusively. Then I started working on my web site in earnest and found that the Netscape 7.0 browser had the source code IN COLOR!!! which makes it a heck of a lot easier when you're bug tracking.

From that point forward I started using Netscape exclusively.

But getting back to you question, from looking at my log files I see browsers with different names. The two most predominent names I see are Mozilla, Gecko, and MSIE.

Just now I looked at the log files and there is one line that says:

"Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.23; Mac_PowerPC"

so I'm not sure what to make of it.

So what I'm wondering is could somebody direct me to a tutorial or something that explains more about the differences between the browsers?
