[Resolved] Database design question.

I am about to create a sort of imagearchive using mysql and php, and I am not sure how to design the database.

This is what I am thinking of doing:

Image table:
id | category_id | filename | description | ...

Category table:
id | parent_id | name | ...

My concerns are regarding how this will work with nested subcategories, like this:

Photos
|-Landscapes
|-Portraits
| |-B&W
| |-Colour
|
Illustrations
|-blah
|-blah2

I can't see any problems with this, but I thought I'd check with you fine folk before I spend a lot of time on something that would have worked better in some other way...

should work ok.

However, consider creating a subcats table and linking that to the categories table. Then link the image on the subcat instead of the main category.
