Increments

I have a car's mileage in the database, and I want to figure out what the difference is between their current mileage and there next service visit which would be in increments of 3000 miles.
Like if they had 2000 miles there next service would be 3000 miles, and the difference would be 1000 miles. Or if they had 29100 miles there next service would be 30000 miles and the difference would be 900 miles.

I want to calculate when they should get there next service base on mileage.

SELECT
  3000 - MOD(mileage, 3000) nextservice
FROM
  table

should provide you with an array index named 'nextservice' which holds the correct number
