problem in Displaying names correctly

Hi,

I am trying to display names from my mysql database in my web page..

Now there are some names like Mün. Now the second letter is shown as a box... When I tried it in my local machine it works fine, but when I upload it to the server, the display is not correct and the second letter gets changed to a box.

any solutions?

perhaps the server's php send's a wrong charset?

the ü is shown as box in your browser or is it shown as box in the generated html source?

Its from the generated html source.. the browser just displays the data....

is the umlaut correctly stored in the database?

maybe htmlspecialchars while storing the data helps?
