send an email TO mysql

Hey all,

I know it's possible but not sure how... sending an email TO mysql, yahoogroups style...

For example, I set up a mailing list and there's 100 subscribers. Rather than having each subcriber send email to the list via a web-based form, I'd like to set up an email address to accept the email and submit the info to the database and at the same time, send the email to all the list subscribers.

I imagine there's some apache handlers involved but I just don't know where to start.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Create your email elements,

then build a loop using mysql_fetch_array and mail()

to send an email to each email address in your database.

Well, that would work just fine to send mail FROM the db, but that's not what I need.

I'm looking for how to send mail TO the db as when mail is received, the contents of the message get sent into the db...

you may try to send to a adress like [e-mail]

create a script connecting to the pop3 server and fetching mails to [e-mail] and passing it to all the users

run this script via cronjob

or (something i found on a german forum but i believe it's the better way in case it works):Ask your server administrator! Tell them you need a mail alias entry to parse a script - provide the examples given in the contribution installation text.

    'Example /etc/mail/aliases entry:' . "\n\n" .
    'sales: "|/path/to/php -q /path/to/osc_mail2db.php config=/path/to/admin/includes/configure.php"

Wow, I guess this is just entirely too much for me at this point. Thanks for the help anyway. I'll revisit the idea when I have some more experience with this stuff.
