Finding it tough

Hi all

I am finding it tough getting to grips with php is there a good tutorial or book you could suggest?

Also I have a couple of php/mysql databases and there are things I would like to do on the php side to enhance the database for members and users, is there a good idiot proof wizard or wysiwyg type programme for managing databases.

Any help/ideas much appreciated

The best thing to do is just use HTML until you run into something that you need PHP for, then go to http://www.php.net and search thier functions list to see if something you need is in there. If you can find it, then post asking for help.

As for DB administration, I use eskuel and protect it with .htaccess

Ok, what I found helpful, and you get alot of books on the cheap..is Safari

you get two weeks free and then it 14.95 a month till you get on your feet.

No, I don't work for them...But there are over 20 php books there with tutorials.

There are more than this, alot more. Are you looking for windows, linux, mac gui? Web based?

Thanks all so far.

Web based I think is the answer to that csousley and it is as much the php side as the database that I need to be able to do modify.

There are so many ideas I have that I know are possible I just need to find out how.

I don't know of a php gui, that doesn't mean there isn't one, but phpmyadmin will handle mysql administration through a browser. Here is the site: http://www.phpmyadmin.net

I know there is more than this for web based stuff to, but this should give you something to start with.
