How to handle a database for this

Hello,

I need help trying to figure out how to structure my database for this situation:
I have a list of people and items they have . These people have the similar items, but the charactaristics are somewhat differnet. So an example would be:

Name: Othello
Items:
Item#1 | red | square
Item#2 |yellow| circle

I wanted to know what would be the best and most organzied way to put this.

My guess would be to have a table "name", "itemID" and "itemColor".

the problem is that when i want to edit one, it'll be very hard since i'll have to searhc through so many lines.
