mysql connection pooling

s there any article or examples about mysql connection pooling on PHP? I have several functions that access to the database, each one opens and in the end closes a connection... I want to do some pooling. Is this possible? Can anyone help, please

at the beginning of your script oben the connection and at the end of the script close the connection

there's no need to do this in every single function you use

but what is the overhead of database if i do open and close on each function? it is significant?

it takes time and resource of both your script and your database server
