[Resolved] Reading HTTP Headers from an URL

Hi,

I badly need help with this :

I'm collecting XML data from some different url's :

http://test.url.com/xmldata1.php
http://test.url.com/xmldata2.php
http://test.url.com/xmldata3.php
http://test.url.com/xmldata4.php

and so on..

but I don't what to download them if nothing has changed since the last time I DL'ed them. They each contain an ETag (Y-m-d H:i:s) in the http header which indicates the latest change.

So my problem is: how do I extract the ETag from the http header of page to se if I should go ahead and DL or if I should wait ??

If you use fsockopen() or the cURL extension, you can send a HEAD request for the URI instead of the usual GET. The response will be the headers that you'd get if you sent a GET request, but without the content.
