my logic behind it is :

in the textarea, the default character to be in there is 'a'
if i dont change whats inside the textarea, then the INSERT INTO shouldnt get called when i refresh the page .. but it does:/

in my database i see

K as my title... then its empty for the text after i refresh , and didnt change anything in the textarea

First of all.
Why you use

if('$insertArea' != 'a')

Why '$isnertArea'? in order to see the variable you should use $insertArea without those '
or even better $_POST['insertArea']

im not sure about this at all but maybe (in the if statment) you dont want ' around the variable.

Change

'$insertArea'

$insertArea
