Please could you tell me how to upgrade from PHP 4.2.3 to the latest version. I think my site is hosted on linux/unix server.

Do you pay for someone else to host your website or do you have your own server?
Someone else...Please help me. I don't want to make a mess.
If your website is at a hosting company...then they will have to upgrade the server, not you.
If you are "leasing" the server (like at datapipe.com) then they (the leaser) can upgrade it for you.
Either way, you won't be doing it yourself.
