Message script

I'm looking for a program/script that will allow me to create a web form with fields like a phone message: message, phone number, contact, etc... but it would also have a series of checkboxes to determine who gets the message.
When the person entering the message clicks 'submit', I would like it to go into a database to be viewed on another page (like a bulletin board) but also sent in an email to the people who's names were checked.
I also need a way to keep track of who is responding to the messages, so it would need a status (open/closed) area that the person who took care of the message can change when its done.
I have a MySQL database ready, i'm just not sure how to integrate the email to multiple recipients and how to display the multiple recipients in the database.

Wow, that is quite the project! Just so you know, most people here are more than willing to give specific answers to specific questions. But to ask to someone to explain how to create a whole setup that you need is, well, alot.

I don't want to discourage you -- but... you will need to learn more about PHP and SMTP to understand how your program will work. If the PEAR extension is available through your host, I would highly recommend using it's mail functions over the standard mail() function. Here is the link to get you started:
