Hello all,

If I have a contest running on my site, and entrants are only allowed to enter once a week, and I want to use the user's email address as the key field.  If a user with this email address already entered the contest this week, give him a message saying you cannot enter this contest because you already did this week.

How would I do this?

in your user table create a column named last_visit with type datetime

to check do

$sql="SELECT (last_visit > NOW() - INTERVAL 7 DAY) allowed
FROM table
WHERE mail='".$mailadress."'
LIMIT 1";
$r = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error());
$allowed = mysql_fetch_assoc($r);
$alowed = $allowed['allowed'];

I don't understand the 'allow', is this a keyword?

it's a alias

as you can see i'm using allowed as index of the array i get from mysql_fetch_assoc
