Find and replace all matches?

Hello,

Looking to do something somewhat simple, just can't figure out how to do so...

I have a file I want to parse and look for all matches that look like this...

<tr>Something -
<tr>SomethingElse -
<tr>SomethingElseagain -
<tr>SomethingElseagain2 -

The thing I want to latch onto is the dash...

So, I need to do something like...

Find all patterns that look like:

<tr>%variable% -

and change them to...

<tr>Something %variable% Something -

Make sense? Any help is appreciated!

This is a job for [man]preg_replace[/man]...

$string = '<tr>SomethingElseagain -';
$newstring = preg_replace('/<tr>(.*?) -/',
 '<tr>Something $1 Something -', $string);
echo $newstring;

The first argument to preg_replace is a regular expression. Google around to find a regular expression tutorial. Don't worry if it's not in PHP; regular expressions are common to a lot of different languages.
