I'm tired of all of those buddy profile services for AIM so I was going to start my own to get back at them. My problem is when I use %n in the profile to pass the buddy's name in the URL so I can later retrieve it using $_GET. If the sn is formatted with a space I get a parse error. Because I can only use html in the profile and now php, I cannot urlencode it before I pass it. There must be a way to deal with this error in the script it leads to. Can someone please help me?

No, it's still the same problem as before. Could it possibly be the way they have the server configured? Or perhaps some sort of header?

There is no code. It is a simple question. Let me explain it better.

Say you have a URL in your profile:
http://wwww.yousite.com/profile.php?name=%n

Depending on the screen name of the person viewing the profile, that may translate to something similar to this:
http://www.yoursite.com/profile.php?name=friends name 15

In a normal browser that would go to this:
http://www.yoursite.com/profile.php?name=friends%20name%2015

But the aim browser does not convert spaces properly so it stays as the former and gives me a parse error. I can't correct the problem before it is passed because only html works the AIM profile. This means I must correct it in the script that it leads to( profile.php ).

or is that also part of the "example"

str_replace($string," ", "%20"); should work... for replacing the spaces and bypassing the Profile's NOT parsing the spaces....

I'm going to explain this one more time and I hope that no one tries to give me the same simple answer that shows that you know nothing of the problem. If you know anything about AIM(AOL Instant Messenger), you would know that %n, when displayed in a profile, inserts the screen name of the user viewing it. Some screen names contain spaces which make them unsuitable for URLs. Unfortunately is is impossible to get rid of the spaces before it is sent because I cannot use php. Therefore there must be a way to deal with this after the fact. AFTER. str_replace would require that it be dealt with beforehand, which is NOT AN OPTION. Now, can someone attempt to give me an answer to my problem?

Well before you essentially call everyone stupid and complain because you havent gotten an answer that suits you, you should explain your problem fully like you did in your previous post.

You say you get a parse error on spaces, that would make anyone here assume you mean you are getting a parse error in PHP, which you say you have no code for.

So fully explain yourself before belittling the few attempts at help you are getting.

If you are getting the parse error and its NOT php, then by all means explain WHERE you are getting parse errors, and then we can help you out.... if it IS a php related parse errors then post the code and we can help ya out....

How can I tell you where I'm getting the error from if I don't know? All normal browsers replace spaces with %20 before they send it. AIM on the other hand, is well... AIM. Everyone knows AOL is retarded and they can't take the time to simply make it so that spaces in the links of profiles get converted. Since the regular browsers replace it, I cannot check to see what the true error is. All I know is that it stems from having spaces in the URL. If you can find me a function( some sort of header would be my guess) that will fix the problem inside of the server instead of returning an error it would be most useful. If not, don't post because I'm tired and I don't feel well and my fuse is short.

I thought that what I was saying would be taken jokingly. The reason that people say it works is because it does. It just doesn't works in a way that's different from what I need. That one is for target="BLANK" while what I need is one that works for target="SELF".
