Can someone help me and explain to me how to use zip codes to see how far apart someone is from another zip code?

first off you need a database of zip codes with their lat/long locations, then you can do some math to figure the distance. i searched around and a database that looked good was here: http://www.zipcodedownload.com/Products/?Product=DataCommercialUSA&StateID=a2b3dd1f-a94c-4135-b5c9-9677eeac1af4 unfortunately most all around cost money
