myPHPadmin Cannot Create Database as Root?

Hello so I have installed myPHPadmin v 2.5.6 using PHP v 4.3.4 with mysql v 3.23.58

Everything is working just fine except that the root user is not allowed to create a database through the myPHPadmin interface???

Any ideas?

My config file:
default with the following changes:

connect type TCP
control user has been created and a password assigned
auth_type set to 'cookie'

PMA DB created and pointed to
Modules intialized (and working) for relations, table_info, column_info, history.

The rest is untouched.

Yes, it could be that PHPMyAdmin has another password somewhere besides the root username.

I know some packages come with a db table and in that table you can try Inserting another username with a password.
